# How to Connect HFM (HotForex) MT4 to Trader Journal

HFM, previously known as HotForex, is a well-established broker operating across multiple regulatory jurisdictions. Here is the complete setup for connecting any HFM MT4 account to Trader Journal.

## HFM MT4 Server Names

HFM has many servers because it serves clients globally through different entities:

- **HotForex-Live** (older accounts)
- **HotForex-Live2**, **HotForex-Live3**
- **HFMarketsGlobal-Live** (newer accounts)
- **HFMarketsGlobal-Live2**
- **HFMarketsEurope-Live** (European clients)
- **HFMEU-MT4-Live** (EU regulated entity)

Your exact server appears in the bottom-right corner of your MT4 terminal.

## Setup Steps

### Download and Install EA

1. Trader Journal app → Settings → Expert Advisor → Download MT4 EA
2. Copy `TraderJournal.ex4` to MT4 Data Folder → MQL4 → Experts
3. Refresh the Navigator in MT4

### Configure WebRequests

Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → Allow WebRequests → add `https://api.traderjournal.app`

### Attach to Chart

Drag TraderJournal EA from Navigator onto any chart. Enter your API key. Enable AutoTrading.

### Confirm in Trader Journal App

Your HFM account appears in Trader Journal Accounts within one minute.

## HFM Account Types

**Micro, Premium, and Zero accounts** all work identically with Trader Journal. The main difference is spread type and commission, both of which are captured automatically.

**Zero Spread accounts:** These charge commission but have near-zero spreads. Trader Journal logs commission per trade so your true P&L is always correct.

**Auto account:** HFM's copy trading account type. If you are a signal provider, Trader Journal tracks your own trades. If you are a copier, the copied trades also appear in your MT4 history and sync to Trader Journal.

**PAMM accounts:** If you manage a PAMM fund on HFM, your manager trades appear in your MT4 history and sync normally. Investor allocations do not appear separately.

## HFM MT5

HFM also supports MT5. Server names follow:
- **HFMarketsGlobal-MT5** or **HFMarketsEurope-MT5**

Use the MT5 EA (`TraderJournal.ex5`) and place it in MQL5 → Experts.

## Troubleshooting

**Wrong timezone on trades:** HFM servers run on EET (Eastern European Time, UTC+2 or UTC+3 in summer). Trader Journal converts trade timestamps to your local timezone if you set your timezone in app settings.

**Bonus credit affecting P&L:** HFM offers deposit bonuses. The bonus credit is not withdrawable but affects your equity. Trader Journal tracks your equity including bonus. For clean performance tracking, use the balance line rather than equity in your analysis.

**Account number vs login:** HFM uses login IDs that may differ from your account number shown in the client portal. Use the login number shown at the top of the MT4 terminal (Help → About, or the title bar) as your account identifier.

## Summary

HFM MT4 connects to Trader Journal using the standard EA process. Identify your correct server, install the EA, enable WebRequests, and your trades sync automatically. The setup takes five minutes and requires no maintenance after the initial connection.
