# New York Session Trading Plan Template

The New York session (13:00–22:00 UTC) overlaps with London from 13:00–16:00 UTC — the highest volume window of the forex day. A focused NY session plan captures the best of that window.

## Pre-Session Preparation (30 minutes before open)

**1. Review what London did**
- What was the London trend direction?
- Were Asian or previous-day levels swept during London?
- Where did London close relative to key levels?

**2. News check for NY hours**
- Is there NFP, CPI, FOMC, or other USD-impact news today?
- If yes: note the time. The 30 minutes before and after major USD news is typically no-trade time.
- Check speeches from Fed members scheduled during NY hours.

**3. Mark NY-specific levels**
- Previous NY session high and low (08:30–17:00 ET window)
- London session high and low
- Overnight range extremes
- Your bias for USD pairs: Bullish USD / Bearish USD / Neutral

## The NY Kill Zone (08:30–11:00 ET / 13:30–16:00 UTC)

This is the highest-probability window for USD pairs in the NY session. Common patterns:
- A manipulation move (Judas swing) at or shortly after 09:30 ET equity open
- Reversal or continuation after the Judas sweep
- NFP at 08:30 ET every first Friday creates the most volatile NY open of the month

## Session Risk Framework

Pre-define before first trade:

- Daily max loss: [amount]
- Max trades in NY session: [number]
- Stop time: "No new entries after 16:00 UTC unless major setup"
- News rule: "No entries within 15 minutes of high-impact USD news"

## During Session

**09:30–11:00 ET (14:30–16:00 UTC):** US equities open. Watch for institutional order flow. This often determines NY direction.

**13:00–15:00 ET (18:00–20:00 UTC):** Volume decreases. Setups become lower probability. Reduce size or stop.

**After 15:00 ET:** Typically slow. High-risk for low-quality setups. Best to close MT4.

## Post-Session Notes

Log in Trader Journal:
- Main theme of NY session (trending, choppy, news-driven)
- Setups identified vs taken
- Rule compliance: Yes / Partial / No
- Best opportunity: what was it and did you take it?

## Summary

New York's best trading is concentrated in the first 2–3 hours of the session. A plan that focuses you on that window — and stops you from trading the low-quality afternoon hours — will improve your NY performance in isolation.
